"You know what I'm craving? A little perspective. That's it. I'd like some fresh, clear, well seasoned perspective. Can you suggest a good wine to go with that?" - Anton Ego (Ratatouille)
If you could rid yourself of one household chore, it would be...
If you had $100 extra "disposible cash" each month...how would you spend it?
My Bookshelf...
Currently:
Bamboo Hospital (Read) - A story of a missionary family from Burma...Just found it randomly at the library.
Bringing Up Boys (Dobson) - A good overview of the culture we raise our boys in, but not so much on the practical stuff (i.e. how can I get my boys to listen to me the first time every time?)
Shadow of the Almighty (Elliot) - This book will make you feel like a spiritual slob, and get you moving to A.U.G.!
Kristin Lavransdatter: The Wreath (Undset) - Okay, haven't started yet, but my babysitter liked it.
Recently completed:
Hopefully Parenting (Jeremiah) - Nothing really surprising, but a good encouragement.
The Broker (Grisham) - One of his better yarns...except too much Italy
Top Favorites in the Past Year (or so):
The Kite Runner (Hosseini) - Must if you have boys...movie was also surpringly good.
A Thousand Splended Suns - My Dad and I cried at the same parts. Not as good as Kite Runner, but man, this guy can write. He could make a paper bag sound riveting.
Beyond the Blue (Gould) - Good read about Vietnamese adoptions
If You Lived Here (Sachs) - Another VN adoption novel
Recent Movies...
Wall-E - Very good film, but not as kid-friendly as other Pixar flicks. My toddler and preschooler seemed disenchanted and bored. Just save it till the DVD
Journey From the Fall - Most incredible film I've seen in years. Story of a Vietnamese boat family. Just took my breath away...
Vantage Point - Yeah...whatever...it was generally entertaining. B+
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Glass Skull - Cheesy like all the others...enjoyable...and man, Ford is old!
